LOVING MEL

I was on campus attending classes, it was a beautiful day, the weather was nicely warm we had just come out of winter. However, my body was going through some serious Rheumatoid Arthritis flares. Man, the pain was extreme! I limped getting to campus when it was time to leave my hip joint was complaining about having no more strength to carry me home. Its better to have the knees swell or any other joint on the body, not to dismiss the fact that its also uncomfortable but the hip joint pain can be agonizing. At that point i thought I would meet my housemates but no one showed up. I normally depend on myself even when its hard but I was seriously looking forward to meeting them to help me get home as I limp. Unfortunately, it didn't happen.  That morning I had read Psalm 28:7 "The lord is my strength, my heart trusts in him, and he helps me". While I was thinking of how my life sucked I suddenly heard the verse in my heart, the...

GROWTH IS NEW

We are not growing unless we experience new. O MY WORD! Life will show you flames, it will overwhelm you to a point of tears. It gets sad along the journey. However, i believe we have a decision to make. Wallowing in sadness and pain shouldn't be what we choose. I do not want to be the reason my light is not shinning no more. As it shines for everyone connected to me, it definitely has to shine brighter in my case. I get to cheer me up first. When it gets tough i sometimes ask myself why i wanted to be an adult. Silly of me! My love for grow makes me want to see continuous changes, i get bored dealing with the same thing for long. Changes get uncomfortable sometimes truth be told, especially when its something new and huge which i wouldn't have chosen, one that makes me feel unequipped. At some point i really thought i was a master to my emotions no matter what comes my way. To be honest, it feels like am learning again the joy of the Lord and what it means in practice, being c...

STILL LEARNING TO SERVE ME

It's not easy serving self when her needs were always put last.  Why is putting self first such a difficult thing to do for someone like me?  It's okay! I tell myself as I practice self care. You've been doing well, you're learning and it's beautiful. It might be a slow journey but it shouldn't have to rush. It's important to pace self especially in this specific journey.  You're growing and it's beautiful. Take your time baby girl, just remember to do it with kindness.💙

I WILL GIVE ME A FLOWER TOO WHEN I AM NOT OKAY

One day a friend of mine asked me a question, "how would you describe yourself"?  Present, was my answer . Its in my nature to see through people. When my people are hurting I automatically feel the need to make a difference. Some days I try, some days the only thing I can do is to be present. While being there for people has always been a  natural act, it was harder for me to be there for me when I needed it the most. I was really struggling but I was impatient with me, I was hard and bad towards myself. I could be kind to other people but I couldn't do the same for me. Its so sad thinking about how mad I was at myself for struggling, though I never chose it for myself. I found beauty in my struggle, giving people love and kindness at that point, taught me I have love and beauty within me. Since I have, I decided to experience the love and the beauty too.  I am my own best friend today and I have stopped searching. Our response to life won't always be the same a...

SEASONS CANNOT CHANGE A SOUL THAT UNDERSTANS ITSELF

They know you because they observe you, but do you connect with yourself beyond awareness of your dislikes, likes, favorites, your emotions and its fluctuations? My question exactly is "do you understand who you are"? At this point we all know we are not in absolute control, perhaps not in control at all is the right phrase. Life seems to have a new definition, we say. But did the definition of life change or we just didn't make the opportunity to know the definition that always existed? Clarity! Change is inevitable, seasons come and go. We set our minds on the exciting vision, unfortunately along the journey we meet disappointments. However, I say this, seasons change but you don't have to.  Yes we can get emotional about it, but I pray no matter what, we (at the core)  naturally respond to life. What am I saying? I say if you are too loving, too nice, too forgiving, no matter, don't change. There are reasons why you care, serving others is one of ...
